Cottesloe Swimsuit, The Second

Sneaking one more summer project in here... another swimsuit!

I wear the Megan Nielsen Cottesloe swimsuit that I made last summer all the time... like to the point where it's getting a bit faded.

I know I just made a new swimsuit a few weeks ago, but I honestly don't love it, even though I really want to.

I love how simple and sleek the Cottesloe is: no bells, no whistles, no underwires, nothing to adjust or tug.

The activities I do in a swimsuit are usually pretty active, so I tend towards the sportier/simpler shapes.

I was lazy and made the same size for this Cottesloe as last time, an 18 bottom and 16 top. But I think I ended up with size 16 elastic on the leg holes; that's what worked for me last time.

I probably should have sized up in the top, in retrospect, since I've gained weight. It's a bit compressive, but it gets the job done.

I also switched to rubber swim elastic. Turns out I like sewing it much better than the cotton swimwear elastic!

This is View D of the Cottesloe pattern, which Megan describes as "an athletic inspired bikini top and high waisted bikini bottom with wide waistband."

I love this fun '90s neon/pastel/geometric swimsuit fabric (am I on a '90s kick these days or what?!). I got it at Imagine Gnats a couple years back. I really miss Imagine Gnats!

Pretty chuffed with this swimsuit... swimsuit season is coming to an end, but we're also squeezing in one more beach week next week, so I'll be ready!
