Gilbert Top x Two

Still into simple projects and repetition over here! And using fabric from my stash.

These two new tops are the Helen's Closet Gilbert Top, a button-up camp-collar shirt.

You might remember I made the waist-tie version of this top last summer. I really liked it, but wanted to make some versions without the waist tie (which I love, but think makes it more casual).

This time I opted for the short-sleeved, cropped version of the Gilbert top, but minus the waist tie, per Helen's tutorial. I love how it hits at the high hip so it doesn't bunch up on my bum.

My two versions of the Gilbert are both made with stash fabric (I've really been doing well using up stash fabric recently!!).

The green Gilbert is a floral/leaf print cotton lawn from Belleboo in Bangkok: I love the acid green with pops of magenta. Of course you can't see it in these photos, so you'll have to trust me.

The purple is a cotton batik I bought when I live in Indonesia. I used the border print for the sleeves. Again, I love the lavender (a color I don't normally wear much) paired with a yellow-y green and maroon (two colors I wear lots!).

Both of my Gilberts are size 20, same as my last one

I used pink-y purple-y shell buttons for the purple top, and white pearl snaps on the green.

I paired my purple Gilbert with my red/maroon Glebe pants and the green Gilbert with my black twill Free Range Slacks

Love them both! They're a little loud, but they're comfy and fun tops that I will wear a lot this spring and summer!
