Testing, testing: Closet Case Patterns Amy Jumpsuit

This is my tester version of the latest pattern from Closet Case Patterns, the Amy jumpsuit!

Amy is a strappy, wide-legged, super simple and yet dramatic jumpsuit that appears like a maxi dress at a glance.

You can read more here in the introductory blog post, but Heather and team describe the Amy as "comfort and breezy elegance all in one tidy, minimalist package," and "the soul of a floaty slip dress in the body of a jumpsuit you’ll never want to take off."  Amy has a V-neck in front and back, with wide shoulder straps, an invisible side zipper and optional inseam pockets.

The floral rayon challis I chose for my Amy is left over from one of my trips to Vietnam when I was living in Southeast Asia. Cheap and cheerful, swishy and delightful. Rayon challis is great for this pattern.

To be honest, I had a wee bit of fitting trouble at the bodice. I had to shorten the straps by 2 inches and had a bit of gaping at the armscye. This seems to be a common fitting issue for me with this bodice shape, though. I had similar issues with the True Bias Ogden Cami and often with close-fitting raglans like the Hey June Lane Raglan.

Amy does have the benefit of bust darts, though, which is nice. They have been raised significantly between the test version and final, so maybe that would resolve my fitting issues?

In the meantime, I'll rock my Amy with a t-shirt, '90s-style to cover up my bra, no harm no foul! This is the Cashmerette Concord t-shirt I made a couple of weeks ago, already coming in handy...

Otherwise, I love the fit... wide leg pants are my jam (does anyone else think of this GIF when they hear "my jam," or is it just me?).

In retrospect, I might have gotten away without the invisible zipper in the side seam, as I can get the jumpsuit off and on easily without undoing it. I'll skip it next time.

When I tested the pattern, Amy's self-fabric waist tie wasn't an option, but I may cut one from my scraps in the future. I do like the Amy best with a bit of waist definition.

What do you think? Is the Amy jumpsuit your jam?
