Digging my way through my pattern stash: here's Hollyburn!
You might have seen a sneak peek of her paired with my Muse Patterns Jenna cardigan earlier this week...
I've had my eye on Sewaholic's Hollyburn skirt for a while now, figuring it had the potential to be a wardrobe staple for me.
However, now that I've made it, I'm just not sure it's me. Or at least not in this fabric...
The fabric is some pretty linen-y stuff I got from a vendor in Hong Kong's fabric district. Now that I see it on me, though, I think it's a bit heavy for Hollyburn. Boo. I feel like there's not enough drape, so it sticks straight out, making my hips look even bigger than usual...
I think if I were to make Hollyburn again, I would use an invisible zip. Not loving how visible and distracting the zip is here:
I dunno... maybe I'm being too judge-y about the Hollyburn. I'm definitely going to wear it and wash it a couple times in the hopes that a) the fabric softens up and b) the skirt grows on me.
Have you made Hollyburn? What's a good fabric choice for this skirt, ya think?
