Wool McCall's 6044 Shirt

 Hello, friends! It's been a while!

Turns out working for a public health agency during a pandemic is... stressful, time-consuming, and exhausting, among other things. Sure has a way of killing your creative energy.

And when your sewing space now doubles as your office, it's less pleasant to spend time there after the work day then it once was. So I haven't done much sewing in the last couple months.

I did find time and energy to sew a bit, though. This project is obviously for Tim. Less obvious is that Tim has literally kept me alive through the last few months of pandemic work: he's done all the grocery shopping and cleaning, as well as a large chunk of cooking, too, in addition to suffering through me being super anxious and high strung and crying at the drop of a hat. He deserved a special project.

This shirt is my favorite shirt pattern for Tim, McCall's 6044. 

The fabric is a spongey, delightful teal wool Tim actually bought for himself on a long layover in Tokyo a couple years back. I sent him to Tomato and I still can't believe he's been there and I haven't. The wool is super soft and not itchy at all.

I finished his shirt with heavy duty snaps because my machines just would not produce a buttonhole on this thick fabric. The hem is finished with bias tape, as a double fold seemed like too much. 

I think it's looking pretty good! I wouldn't say it got me fully back on board the sewing train, but baby steps...
