Charlie Caftan and Willow Wrap Belt = Ancient Greek Dress

My niece had a request for a sewing project: an ancient Greek dress. And you know I like to indulge her requests (see this velvet and sequined cloak and this harlequin dress based on one of her drawings.)

One of her more recent special interests is Greek mythology... I think her entry point was the musical Epic. At a recent family camping trip she regaled us with tales of the labors of Hercules and the journey of Odysseus. She's particularly fascinated by the concept of sirens.

Caftan Crew: Envelope Dress x 2

I saw my family for the first time in many months over the 4th of July holiday... I knew that there would have to be some sort of caftan and cocktail celebration, so I set about making it happen!

Caftans and Cocktails!

I hope you’re all ready for a bit of frivolity… I know I am!

Loni, of Havin’ Sew Much Fun fame, and I are teaming up for a high-fun, low-pressure sewing and socializing event for the summer: Caftans and Cocktails. If anything can take your mind off the current craziness in the world it’s dressing up in a bright, oversize swooshy dress and pouring yourself a drink.
