Testing, testing: Springfield Top

This is my tester version of the latest wardrobe workhorse pattern from Jenny at Cashmerette: the Springfield Top!

A simple tank top/shell, the Springfield Top is the curvy girl's version of the Grainline Willow or Colette Sorbetto, with Cashmerette's signature C-H cup size options.

But just because the Springfield top is a staple doesn't mean it's without options. As Jenny describes it:
"View A has an optional deep hem band, and a loose skimming back, and View B has back princess seams with a built-in swayback, which creates a lovely fitted result. Both tops have bust darts, no-gape armholes, side seam slits, and a yoke which you can use as a fun contrast! The neckline and armholes are finished with bias binding which you can make yourself with the pattern pieces provided, or you can use store-bought binding."

For my tester version (and, yep, this is the tester version and some minor fitting changes were made to the pattern between testing and final), I opted for View A, the looser version, but without the hem band.

I used some Anna Maria Horner quilting cotton that's been in my stash for-e-ver. This was maybe not the ideal choice for View A, as it's a little stiff. View A needs a fabric with more drape, I think, but I think View B would be do-able in a quilting cotton if you've got one you're dying to use.

I'm pretty delighted with the gap-free armscyes and neck, not gonna lie.

I can't wait to make the Springfield top in some solid colors to wear under blazers and with sweaters. I've got some white swiss dot lined up for that.

I'll also try View A again in a flowier fabric. Maybe rayon challis or silk in a brightly colored print? Jenny's striped silk version made me swoon a little bit.

Yes, there are definitely more Springfield Tops in my future. Jenny's done it again with a great basic for the curvy ladies!
