Gallery Dress

I knew I'd make another Gallery Tunic, but I didn't know it would be this soon!

The Liesl + Co. Gallery Tunic that I made in December is a favorite, for sure. When the Gallery Dress/Tunic sewalong was announced, I figured now was as good a time as any to make another!

This time, I opted for the dress version I stayed with the 3/4 sleeves and the
full collar.

Please excuse my band-aid covered knees and bruised shins. If I was wearing short sleeves, you'd see my black and blue elbows, too. All these wounds are the result of my new hobby/exercise activity, Muay Thai. Super fun, but not easy on the body!

Back to the dress: fabric-wise, I pulled a slinky deep, deep (almost black) chocolate brown floral rayon challis from my stash. I love the jewel tone flowers on the dark background. I've had the fabric in my stash for-e-ver... I think it may be from Fashion Fabrics Club, either that or Fabric.com, but I can't find it on either anymore.

The rayon challis made the collar a little bit trickier than the lawn I used last time-- so slippery! so easily stretched out of shape!-- but still doable. The tiny hem was a bit of a nightmare in this fabric, too. I might use a bias tape finish next time.

I accidentally sewed the front pleat going in the wrong direction, but no big deal.

I love how the dress turned out in the drapey rayon! Insanely comfortable, but also chic.

I tried it with a belt and thought it looked pretty good:

In this fabric, it's got so much movement that you can wear it unbelted, too, without feeling like you're wearing a tent.

In sum: happy, happy with this dress. So comfy! So simple! So chic!

P.S.: This is my 1000th blog post! This blog has certainly changed course from when I started it (I take far fewer terrible food photos... now I just stick to terrible photos of handmade clothing), but 7 years later (almost to the date!) I am still having fun sharing! Thanks for reading!!
