Loving this new pattern from Elbe Textiles!
This is the Townsend Shirt, a button up shirt with grown on sleeves and wrap ties built into the front bodice that cross over the button stand at the waist, tied at the back. There are two options for the neckline - a classic collar and collar stand, or a round neck with a bound finish.
You know I love an interesting twist and/or tie - remember when I hosted the Sew Twists and Ties challenge for a couple years?
I was a tester for this pattern, so this is my pattern tester version. Some changes were made to the pattern as a result of testing- including adding more ease at the hip, raising the sleeve depth, shortening the sleeve length, lowering the center back hem slightly and giving it a mild curve.
The Townsend Shirt is available in sizes A-N, up to 57 inch bust/60 inch hip. This is a size I.
The Townsend is designed for light to medium weight woven fabrics. I chose a fabric from my stash, a kind of crinkly, slightly gauzy cotton in a lovely grey with magenta polka dots. I think I originally got it in Bangkok.
Buttons are a shell-type button, also from my stash.
This shirt is quite easy to sew, and fun to wear. I love the ties, particularly when twisted around themselves before getting tied in the back, as I'm wearing it here.
I'll definitely plan to make another Townsend ! I love the neutral versions in Lauren's samples, in particular.
