After the big success that was my first Hot Patterns Fast and Fabulous Shirt-tail Tee, I decided to make another...

Playhouse Dress x 2

My younger niece is turning 2 years old very soon, so I thought I would sew something up for her. But then, once I got started on her gift, I decided it made sense to make something for her older sister, too. Assembly line sewing is efficient, but man, it's tiring!

Kasbah Meghan

You're probably sick of seeing this pattern from me, but here is Sis Boom's Meghan peasant pattern in dress form.  I made it with some beautiful Amy Butler fabric, Kasbah in Midnight Blue, which is kind of a faux ikat print.

Love it!  I've worn it approximately twice a week in the past month since I made it... love the print, love the pattern, love how comfy it is!

Ella Raglan Blouses

This is the Ella Raglan Blouse from I Think Sew (same pattern company that designed Zoe's cute overalls):

It's a ridiculously easy pattern that whips up quite fast and looks quite comfy.  In the future, I could see lengthening it into a dress or adding elastic to the waist for a slightly more fitted look.  Maybe piping on the seams between the body and sleeves?  The pattern includes sizes for ages 3-8, so I foresee many more of these in the future.

Today's iterations include one made from some very pretty Amy Butler Linen Optic Blossom fabric (thanks, Jenny!):

And this sunny version is made from two Indonesian batiks, the body a beautiful yellow floral that I bought at Pasar Mayestik last week and the contrasting sleeves a cool pink batik that you might remember from this ruffle blouse and this Tiny Pocket Tank... I am getting my money's worth out of that piece of fabric!!

Speaking of Amy Butler...

... I just found out that she has a whole bunch of free downloadable patterns on her website for everything ranging from fabric business card holders to some really nice quilts. Check them out! On the main page, in the bottom right corner, click on "free patterns."

Her fabrics are amazing, too, although not sold on her website. Apparently they have them at the store Chuck likes to refer to as "G String Fabrics" here in DC, as well as at a couple other boutiquey fabric stores. I might go check them out.

Solo Sewing Project*

Made this cool Amy Butler shoulder bag (called a "birdie sling" for unknown reasons) for Jamie for her birthday (and can finally post a photo of it now that she's opened her present!). It's not perfect, but for my first solo sewing project, it's decent, I think. The project directions were very clear and came with a glossary of sewing terms that I find other patterns are lacking.
* Now with more bunnies! See the bag's lining to understand why this bag is made for Jamie Lee.
