Batik Basics

Some more batik stuff I made pre-Christmas:

A paneled elastic waist skirt for Jamie (figuring she could take wear it while pregnant and take it in post-baby)... made with the same batik and plaid combo as the outfit I made for Zoe a few months ago.

Some green batik Big Butt Baby Pants to pair with a monkey t-shirt I bought in Bangkok, for Miss Monkey herself, Zoe:

Another Butterick 5625 baby romper, this one with the batik scraps from the skirt above and Zoe's outfit:

And finally, some batik boxer shorts, made using a pattern from the book "Fabric-by-Fabric One-Yard Wonders," which Colleen generously gave me.  They came out pretty well, but I will say that the fly part of the pattern and instructions totally blew my mind.  And not just mine, but the Real Martha's, too, so you know it was difficult/confusing, as she is a pro.  I'm working on another pattern from the book right now and the instructions are fool-proof, so perhaps this one was a fluke.

Big Butt Baby Pants Galore

Made some more Big Butt Baby Pants (Triple B P?) a couple weeks ago...

Barbara requested pants for Andrew since he's feeding himself now and things get quite messy, requiring multiple outfit changes per day.  These are like the reverse of the rocket pants I made for baby Alex last month:

This time I made a cuff detail so they can be rolled up or unrolled at the bottom:

Also, a Christmas "day look" (har har) made from the same fabric as the Christmas dress I made Zoe a few weeks ago, one pair for Zoe, one pair for Izzy:

Big Butt Rocket Pants

Yet again more Big Butt Baby Pants, this time rocketships with a contrasting striped butt and pockets, fabric care of Chuck via Amy and Adam (thanks, guys!).

This pair is for baby Alex...pockets are the tiny pocket from the Tiny Pocket Tank, but I figured they'd be useful on the pants for holding tiny things.

More Big Butt Baby Pants

More big butt baby pants based on the Made by Rae pattern... this time I was using scraps, so I made the contrasting butt panel and lower legs, both with some decorative top-stitching for extra color and strength.  Pretty cute!

Big Butt Baby Pants

I've been eying these Big Butt Baby Pants from Made by Rae for a while now... man, I should have downloaded this pattern much sooner! So cute!

Front view.
The pants have an extra panel in the back to accommodate poofy diaper butt.  If you're fancy, you can sew the pants with a contrasting fabric on that butt panel to maximize cuteness (I did not max out on cuteness this time... I wasn't sure you could take it after the baby romper, grandpa sweater and party hat).

Butts.
I sewed one pair for baby Zoe (who is barely a baby anymore- she walks! she's 1!), made from a beautiful pink and green Amy Butler fabric that Jenny sent me.  The smaller pair is for baby Alex, made from a cool batik (from which I also made a pillowcase).  They have a bit of an MC Hammer feel to them, but a handsome boy looks good in anything, right?  Plus, if his dad can pull off a singlet, Alex can pull these babies off.
