Sweater Knit Sigrid Coat

I know I've been making spring and summer dresses recently, but the reality of the weather situation here in Vermont is that multiple layers of wool are still required at least every other day.

Wool Daphne Jacket

I can't resist a cozy, oversized jacket pattern. This one is the Vivian Shao Chen's Daphne Jacket, a recent pattern release.

Papercut Patterns Fjord Cardi

I was pretty smitten with the newest collection from Papercut Patterns, Geo. They always design patterns with such cool seaming...

One of the patterns I bought right away was the Fjord Cardi... I really liked those angled pockets, cozy collar and cool seamlines. I thought the Fjord Cardi pattern might be a good candidate for some Sewing Leftovers-style colorblocking down the line.

But first, a solid version to test the Fjord out! I honestly have no memory of what this fabric is or where I got it. A deep, teal blue, thickish, drapey, french-terryish, definitely some lycra content single knit with good recovery. Good stuff.

This is a size large, which is the Papercut Patterns size I've chosen in the past. It's smaller than my measurements, but I found their patterns run large. I think this was the right size, although I had a couple fitting issues I would fix next time...

The sleeves are a funky raglan-style sleeve that has a seam at the back rather than under the arm. I found them to be quite wide; next time I would slim them down slightly.

As you can see from the drag lines, I probably need an FBA next time I make this pattern. I'll have to figure out how to do that on these pattern pieces... those front seam lines are not quite princess seams.

One of the things that drew me to this pattern are the angled pockets... However, I'm finding their placement a bit strange. They are sort of set to the side, so your hands don't easily slip into them and they end up hidden under your arms so they're barely visible from the front.

That sounds like a lot of complaints, but I really like the cardigan despite those issues! I'll definitely take some time to tweak some of my issues with it to make it work better next time. In the meantime, I'll be wearing this one anyway because it's so cozy!

Pumpkin Estelle Ponte Jacket

You guys, it's decorative gourd season and I am really feeling fall this week... some crisp air, colorful leaves, and seasonally-appropriate pumpkin orange cardigan/jacket/topper thing for me!

Wool Sweater Knit Oslo Cardigan

Sometimes you need a big, oversized fluffy cardigan to keep you warm and cozy. That time is now for me. Cardigans and sweaters have obviously been on my mind. Because I want them on my body.

Dude Sewing: Far Far Cardigan

This is one of my last projects of 2017, a gift for Tim. With temperature plummeting here in Vermont at that time, he needed some layers!

Knitting: Assam Cardigan in Tahki Tandem

This is a bit unusual for the blog in that it's not something I've sewn, but I thought it worth sharing: my mom knit me a sweater!

Quilted Cable Coral Cardigan

Sometimes a piece of fabric has to marinate in my stash for a while before finding the perfect project. Other times it's barely out of the bag before it's been assigned to a pattern and sewn up... this fabric falls into the latter category!

Muse Patterns Jenna Cardigan

Back in action after almost 3 weeks away from my sewing machine! I can't complain, though, as I was traveling to some pretty cool places (Krabi and Chiang Rai, Thailand and Luang Prabang, Laos) and doing some pretty cool things (island hopping, silk weaving, cooking classes...)!
