Caramel Apple Hope Dress

 Vermont fooled me again.

A couple weeks back there were several 60+ degree days in the forecast and I was fooled into thinking warmer weather was here to stay.

The warmer weather, plus a sewalong from Style Arc, had me pull the spring-y Hope Woven Dress pattern out again. And then this snow. Sigh.

I'd made this dress a few years ago in a solid brown double gauze, which is lovely, but I really wanted a printed version. I've seen so many versions of the Hope Dress looking amazing sewn up in a large-scale print.

I had the perfect fabric in my stash, a wild and unique large-scale printed linen/rayon blend I got from Fabric Mart back in 2023 when I bought the beautiful red challis I used for my Frocktails dress

I love this fabric. It's really dramatic and strange and has an amazing combination of colors (greens, reds, hot pink, mustard-y orange, navy). It's got curly and wavy haired folks kissing and eating what looks like caramel apples? Plaid. Polka dots. Hearts. So random.

To break up the big print and show off the raglan lines of the Hope dress, I decided to use some navy fabric from my stash, made some flat piping, and sewed it into those seams, as well as the waist seam. It's subtle but I like it.

I used the full width of fabric for the skirt, adding a significant amount of volume to the skirt. This is the longer length skirt from the pattern.

This is a size 22, same size I made last time.  I think I could have safely gone down a size or two, but I was lazy and opted to use the 22 since I already had it traced.

Like last time, I removed the center back seam and button closure.

Pretty delighted with this dress! It's fun and breezy and joyful, which is everything I need right now. Bring on the (real) spring weather.
