Me-Made-May Wrap-up

Here's my second and final Me Made May wrap-up!  I stayed true to my pledge to wear something me-made every day. Many times I wore more than one me-made. I did discover that, in addition to more me-made pants, I could use a couple more basic, solid layering tops to go under cardigans and blazers and/or tucked into skirts. I'm on it.

It's been really fun seeing everyone's makes in action/in the wild! However, until next May... don't expect any more selfies from me! #selfiefatigue

Sewing Dare Part 1: Style Arc Barb

OK, Gillian: I am following through with your sewing dare to make pants, but I am doing it in baby steps. Yes, I made pants. But are elastic waist stretch pants really daring? The rules state, "A good dare should be a fun challenge, just slightly outside your comfort zone." I'm thinking this gets me a quarter or maybe halfway to completing my dare, because although technically pants because they cover the lower half of my body with two tubes, these pants have no zip, no button, no pockets, and thus are completely within my comfort zone.

Seamwork Astoria in Ponte

I've been getting Colette's Seamwork magazine since the beginning. I mean, I am nothing but a shameless pattern hoarder, and a subscription to this digital magazine comes with 2 patterns a month. 1 + 1 = 2.

Mid Month Me-Made-May

Woot! Halfway through Me Made May! Sick of selfies after like 3 days, but trying to keep up the documentation regardless.

me-made-may'14

I've been adhering to half of my Me Made May goal in the sense that I have been wearing at least one me-made garment a day for the past 15 days. Many days more than one... I've not documented several items worn just for dinner or to bed. I definitely reach for me-made more than not, I've found, which is great. Pants are still a problem area, though, which is less great.

I have not been keeping up with my "make do and mend" goal- the one where I promised to mend/alter 5 me-made garments to make them wearable.  Check back in after this weekend, though!

Details on my first 15 days below... follow me on Instagram for the day-to-day updates if you'e so inclined:

Deer and Doe Brume

More skirts! Lots of skirts for me these days. I think my unjustified pants sewing fear, combined a plethora of cute skirt pattern releases is keeping me firmly in the skirt camp these days. Also, I am apparently into pairing skirts with this striped Bonnie top... maybe it's time to work on another one of those, too.

Morris!

Finally finished my Morris! I'm not sure why it took me so long to finish it up, as it's a really simple project. Sewjo blockage + long weekend trip = drawn out sewing project.
