More pants from second-hand fabric!
I really hit the jackpot for fabric one of the times I visited my local secondhand craft supply store, The Makery. Not only did I get a rare gem, the fleece backed twill I used for my Taylor Trousers, but I also got this lovely green/grey brushed cotton canvas.
I had been wanting to make the Leila Makes Topo Pants and this seemed like the perfect fabric.
The Topo Pants are a rock climbing, or adventure pant, with a relaxed straight leg, and a high rise. The pants have elasticated waistband with optional drawstring, elasticated bottom hems, double layered knee fronts, curved inseam pockets, curved back yoke, and an optional side/back patch pocket.
The Topo pants come in sizes 00-36, which corresponds to a waist of 23-54" and hip of 33-64". I went with a size 20 and View A, the classic double-front leg with no knee darts.
I was admittedly very confused about the different rise options described in the pattern - I could not find the options for high- vs mid-rise on the pattern pieces. Unless I completely misunderstood, I think the pattern actually only has one rise, and I'm guessing it just depends on how you wear them? In any case, they're quite high rise on me.
I made a mistake by trying to save main fabric by using scraps for the front pockets and drafting pocket facings out of the main fabric. You can see here that I didn't make the pocket facings deep enough and my pocket fabric shows where my belly is pulling the pant front forward. Doh!

The pattern's details are a little bit hard to see since I didn't do contrasting topstitching, but I love the curved back yoke and double fronts.
I skipped the elastic in the hems. I put the drawstring on the inside of the waistband.
Pretty chuffed with these pants! Quite comfy and I'll get a lot of wear out of them!
