Jenneth Wedding Jewels

I had the honor of attending the wedding festivities of Jenny and Kenny (henceforth known collectively as "Jenneth") in lovely Custer State Park in the Black Hills of South Dakota a few weeks ago.  Jenny partook of my services for the bridal party jewelry, and here's what we came up with:

A mix of shades of blue and yellow beads, some sparkly, some matte, crocheted together on silver wire...  they came out pretty awesome and everyone seemed to love them!  I made them very loosely based on this video tutorial (which I've used before, here and here).  However, I used significantly more beads... probably 30-45 per strand, started with 5 or 6 empty (beadless) stitches and then pulled a bead up on each stitch until I was done with the beads, then another 5 or 6 beadless stitches.

Here are some of the lovely bridesmaids, Colleen and Eileen, modeling the jewels and doing their best Blue Steel.. hot!:

Congratulations again, Jenneth!!!

New Jewels

I made some new jewels in anticipation of Christmas, both for me to wear and for me to give.  I used the same methodology as these wire-wrapped earrings I made a few months ago for all of them:

This pair goes with the batik tops I recently made:

This pendant, made from rose quartz and some sort of green stone, goes with the batik skirt I made for Jamie:

These turquoise babies are for me... I got these turquoise beads back in high school in Arizona and routinely change their setting.  They have had many lives as various necklaces, bracelets and earrings...  These babies go with a three-strand cuff bracelet I made a few years ago that stuck.

More Wire-Wrapped Earrings

I made a couple more pairs of these simple but stunning wire-wrapped earrings... so fast and easy, as well as a good way to use up random stray beads leftover from other projects!

Wire-wrapped Earrings

Wow, it's been a long time since I've made some jewelry.  Months and months, I believe.  Between the packing, the getting married, the moving, the waiting, etc., I've had no chance to bead.  But now that I had my crafting gear, including beads, I am inspired again.   Particularly after seeing this post on wire and bead earrings...

I made these earrings in a total of about 10 minutes, and was able to wear them out to a newly opened bar in our neighborhood tonight.  Finding the beads, wire and tools beforehand was a bit of an undertaking, as I hadn't opened any of my bead boxes since they arrived in my shipment.  Thanks to Chuck, Liz and Meghan, though, all the beads and findings seemed to have arrived unblemished and contained in their original location. Phew!  Thanks, ladies!!

Jewelry for Amy's Wedding

Amy asked me to make the jewelry for the bridesmaids (including me!) in her upcoming Hawaiian wedding... each girl is wearing a different brightly colored dress, so the jewels coordinate with each girl's dress. The jewelry came out pretty cool!
A little bit of a vintage vibe in turquoise, coral and bright yellow.
