Sometimes your sister drags you to a fabric store and you reap the benefits of accompanying her...
I really wanted to check out Paper City Fabrics, a lovely second-hand/thrift fabric shop not far from my sister's house, so I made her accompany me. I dropped off a box of fabrics and picked up a few pieces, including this pretty teal, plaid, wool shirting my sister picked out for herself.
I wasn't 100% sure the fabric from Paper City Fabrics was wool, so I did a little burn test to confirm and got that distinct hairy smell, and when I pressed/steamed the fabric it also gave that wet wool odor. Pressed like a dream, too. I love working with wool!
I opted for the Helen's Closet Cameron Button-up Shirt pattern. I had made my sister a Cameron shirt a few years back and she really loved it, so I confirmed with her that this was still a good pattern choice for her fabric.
I went with the same size as last time for her Cameron, size 10 bust, blended to 14 at the hips.
Too avoid too much plaid matching, I cut the yoke, cuffs and chest pocket on the bias.
I finished it off with tmetal snaps.
It looks great! Please enjoy these photos of her looking fabulously sun kissed in the middle of an epic happy hour/bar crawl we did on our recent Cape Cod vacation.
