Big Crumb Coffee Cake with Malang Apples

Tim's had a rough week at work, so I baked him his favorite, a big crumb coffee cake, to bring to the office to share with his colleagues.  Based on Smitten Kitchen's recipe, I just substituted the rhubarb with some local apples from Malang.  Pretty good!

Blackberry Cream Cheese Coffee Cake

A couple months ago I made a coffee cake on a whim, and found out that coffee cake is apparently a weakness for Tim. He's having a super stressful month at work, so I thought I'd use some CSA blackberries I had hanging around in the fridge to make him a coffee cake to bring to a big meeting he had this morning with his coworkers.
This coffee cake was pretty easy, as coffee cakes should be, and it was also pretty good and definitely looked pretty. However, I think I should have put it on a higher shelf in the oven, because the bottom got a little too dark.

Big Crumb Coffee Cake with Rhubarb

Got the first rhubarb of the season and thought we'd make this Smitten Kitchen recommended big crumb coffee cake... mmmm. Big crumbs = delicious.
Tim commented, "Can you just make me rhubarb coffee cake the rest of my life?" That's saying a lot considering Tim normally says "It's good." when I ask him what he thinks of a particular dish I've made.
Our sour cream was a little long in the tooth (i.e. green and hairy), so we substituted some Greek yogurt. Also, Chuck misread the recipe a bit and used the microplane to grate some fresh ginger in with the rhubarb rather than use dried/ground ginger.
