Ug, so cute!
I knew the Helen's Closet Yanta Overalls pattern would be great for my overall-loving mom. She picked out this fabric from my stash earlier this year, and I finally got around to sewing them up!
Tim actually bought the fabric, a floral printed slightly stretchy denim, for me several years back on a trip to Vietnam. This was before I had visited Vietnam, so I sent him with instructions to buy me lots of fabric... and he did!
These Yantas are a size 10 graded to a 14 at the hip. I didn't alter the length at all; the Yantas are meant to be cropped, but on my shorty mom they're full length. I put the center front pocket and back pockets on, but skipped the front hip pockets.
I didn't use the invisible zipper option at the hip. I just kinda crossed my fingers and hoped she'd be able to pull them over her hips. Won that round of zipper roulette! The fit is pretty good!
I had just as much trouble with that center back bit as I did on my first pair of Yantas. It's passable, but not as neat as I would like. Not sure what my problem is with that area where the straps attach, but whew, it's a struggle.
I used overalls hardware and buttons rather than the buttons and buttonholes that the pattern calls for. You'll also remember, if you follow me on Instagram, that I hammered those buttons in on the wrong side of the bib... doh, what a bonehead move! Luckily I had some more buttons in my stash that seemed to fit ok, so I cut off the first pair and installed the new ones correctly. Phew!
As I said earlier, ug, they are so cute, as is my mom.
