Sew Your Hart Out September: Jalie Helene Cardigan in Blake Jersey

It's Sew Your Hart Out September and I'm joining in the fun!

You might have caught a glimpse of this cardigan in last week's post, but you can read more about this Jalie Hélène cardigan that I made from Blake Cotton Jersey by Carolyn Friedlander for Robert Kaufman on the Hart's Fabric blog, Sew Your Hart Out!

  1. The pocket design is nice. I always appreciate the fit and detail in Jalie patterns. On the Hart blog you describe the fabric as black and white, but the photo I'm seeing looks like it is blue and white. Either way, the design is interesting. Think I'd like to try this for a quick make and great wardrobe staple.

    1. They do have some lovely details! I really like this cardigan and it's those details that will draw me to make it again!

The fabric is definitely black and white- sorry if it looks blue- that's probably my subpar photography! You can see the true color here: http://www.hartsfabric.com/rk-blake-hatch-jersey-knit-black-92302.html

  2. What a fun pocket! I've been checking out these Carolyn Friedlander fabrics and there's some really cute prints. You describe the jersey as pressing well--is it like Art Gallery jerseys in that way?

    1. I've only sewn with Art Gallery jerseys once or twice and don't have any currently on hand to compare, but I'd say the Blake knits are slightly less bouncy and thick than the Art Gallery. They're printed on Laguna cotton jersey. Something about the printing makes them easier to work with than the Laguna jersey, I find. Does that make sense?
