Another pattern repeat, another boiled wool project!
Earlier this year I made the Charlotte Emma Patterns Clove Vest in a boiled wool blend, and I basically wore it twice a week every week the weather permitted. It's the perfect layer.
When Robin stocked up Stash with more boiled wool, I decided I needed another Clove Vest, this time in a more neutral color than the pumpkin spice I used last time. I went with the jet black colorway.
I love that this vest takes very little fabric (1.25 yds in my size), and is such a quick make, too.
The Clove Vest goes up to a UK size 36, a 60 inch bust/64 inch hip. I cut the same size as last time, a UK size 24, which is in the D-cup range.
I cut the shorter of the Clove's two lengths, which hits at high hip on me, and opted for the crew neck view.
When I tried this on, I felt like it was a lot longer than my pumpkin spice Clove, so I compared the two and it is!
I think it's because I washed the pumpkin spice Clove in the washing machine and it lost a lot of length. The two vests are roughly the same width, but the black Clove is like 3-4 inches longer and the armholes and darts are lower, too.
So, the morale of the story is: beware! of machine washing this fabric.
And the twist in the plot is: I may wash this one anyway because I prefer the shorter length of my pumpkin spice Clove.
