Pumpkin Spice Clove Vest

Pumpkin spice includes cloves, right?  Well, in any case, I've paired the two here:

This is the Charlotte Emma Patterns Clove Vest, which I made a couple years back.

The Clove Vest is a lovely layering piece with choice of either a wide V-neck or a crew neck, both finished with facings. The deep armholes are also finished neatly with facings.

The Clove Vest also has a deep, split hem and two lengths. It's designed for medium-weight knits.

I've made this pattern twice before, in a navy wool knit and hot pink sweatshirting - I adore them both and wear them regularly. They are great for layering over a button-up or blouse, and for under a blazer or cardigan.

This time I made the crew neck version, as opposed to the V-neck, and I love the higher neck.

The size range for the Clove is up to UK size 36, which is a 60 inch bust/64 inch hip. It's split into two size ranges, with the smaller size range designed for a B-cup and the larger a D-cup.

I cut the same size Clove as last time, a UK size 24, which is in the D-cup range. I cut the shorter of the two lengths, which hits at high hip on me.

The fabric is a boiled wool and viscose mix from Stash. The colorway is pumpkin spice, a gorgeous orangey-red. Or is it reddish-orange? Depends on the light.  You might remember I made a cardigan from the olive green colorway of the boiled wool a few months back.

Robin has a bunch of gorgeous wools in stock- these boiled wools but also several gorgeous deadstock wools, too!

I adore this vest- it turned out so cute! I know it will quickly become a favorite- I’ve already worn it twice since making it. It looks great as a pop of color under my Auburn Blazer
