Gorgeous Green Naomi Dress

It's not summer until there's some swooshy dress drama!

This particular drama is the Style Arc Naomi Woven Dress, a pattern I admired after seeing beautiful versions from Monica and Birdy.

I thought this pattern would pair well with a beautiful large-scale floral print rayon voile I got from LA Finch Fabrics

This beautiful OEKO-TEX certified fabric is sold out now at Finch Fabrics, but I've seen it pop up at other shops.

I love the mix of colors on the emerald green background - ochre and red and hot pink and coral and royal blue.

The Naomi is a slip on, easy fit dress with a waist seam that curves up at center front and back. The waist is gathered by draw strings that tie at the side seams.

The dress has a V-neck, side slits on the long skirt and voluminous 7/8th length sleeves gathered by elastic.

I cut a size 22 according to my measurements. That seems like the right choice, generally, although maybe I could have done with a 20 bodice; it's quite roomy. but it does say “easy fit” in the description. Insert shrugging emoji here.

I don't know what this stink face below is for, but I love it:

Also the sleeves are loooong. It says 7/8ths in the description, but they're more than full length on me. It work fine if I push the elastic to above my elbows, but the full sleeve is a lot of look.

I may shorten them in the future... we shall see!

The waistband curves up gently at the center front and back. I like it on the pattern model and in the line drawings, but I wonder if it makes me look pregnant? Or just like my boobs are hiking the waistband up?

Please note my fun hot pink serging on the inside of the dress:

The front and back skirts are the same pattern piece. In retrospect I wish there was some slight shaping for the above-the-bum area because I have some pooling there.

That sounds like a lot of complaints, but I think overall I quite like the dress even with my minor fitting concerns. It's dramatic and swishy and fun, and the colors are a knock-out!
