I know I've been making spring and summer dresses recently, but the reality of the weather situation here in Vermont is that multiple layers of wool are still required at least every other day.
Maybe my last winter project, this wool wearable blanket is the Style Arc Sigrid Knit Coat, a longline cardigan/coatigan/coat/bathrobe/wearable blanket. It's got drop shoulders, patch pockets, and long sleeves with a deep hem that can be turned back.
My favorite detail of the Sigrid pattern is the a lovely mitered split hem, though:
For my Sigrid, I opted for a size 20, which worked great.
The fabric is a red confetti wool sweater knit from Lyrical Fabrics that I bought last year during a holiday sale.
It's quite a loosely knit, drapey sweater knit in a rusty red orange wool/poly blend with speckles of blue, yellow and green throughout. A bit sheer, but fuzzy and warm at the same time.
Since the fabric was so loosely knit, I added some extra support to certain areas. In addition to using knit interfacing on the neck band, I also used it on the hems to keep them crisp, the tops of the pockets and along the shoulder seam to prevent stretching.
I'm pretty happy with my cardigan! Is is basically a bathrobe that you wear outside? Yes. And I'm ok with that.
