I'm very behind on the barrel leg pant trend. This is my first pair!
I chose a size D to correspond with my hip measurement, which worked well. Relaxed fit as intended, I think.
The pattern comes in sizes A-M, which corresponds to a 41.5"-71.5" (105-181.5cm) hip. Muna and Broad will grade up the pattern if it's too small to include you, too.
For fabric, the pattern recommends using medium to medium/heavy weight woven fabrics. I chose a lighter weight railroad denim (I think it's this 6 oz Robert Kaufman denim?) from my stash that I think I originally purchased at Brooklyn General many years back.
The tiny stripes make for some dizzying photos!
I switched up the stripe direction for both sets of patch pockets as well as the waistband.
I didn't have 1/4” fine cotton tape the pattern calls for to stabilize the front pocket edge, so I just interfaced it.
I skipped the faux fly. I couldn't be bothered and figured it might get lost in the stripes anyway.
I'm pretty delighted with my Eileen Barrel Pants! It's definitely a subtle barrel, not a super dramatic or exaggerated curve like some of the barrel leg sewing patterns out there. But very wearable!
