I was a pattern tester for the new Chalk and Notch Rivi blouse. I was smitten with the interesting angled front and back yokes, and the resulting opportunities for playing with stripes!
Rivi is an oversized woven button-up shirt and dress with a dropped armhole. There are angled seam lines on the front bodice and back yoke that allow for playing with the stripe direction.
There are two sleeve options, a full-length and a short sleeve with cuffs. Both views include optional side slits.
The Rivi pattern comes in size 0-30 (up to a 58 inch full bust), with 2 bust cup options - A/B and C/D.
I cut a size 20 C/D, which worked well, although I'm finding that the darts are a bit low for me.
Some minor changes were made to the pattern since I tested, including shortening the sleeves slightly.
This is the long-sleeve version, but the short-sleeved version is very cute, as is the dress view- check out the other versions from pattern testers. I'll definitely be making those other views!
The fabric I used for my test was a striped cotton seersucker shirting that I bought ages ago on a trip to Hong Kong.
The Rivi has a beautiful finish on the insides since the whole pattern is designed with and the instructions walk you through French seams.
I could see making it with serged seams, too, in a rush, but the clean finish is pretty stunning and satisfying!
