Alamain Pleat Top

I've had my eye on the Alamain Pleat Top for a while now and was very pumped when they expanded their size range recently so I could try it!

I love the asymmetry of the Pleat Top, the relaxed fit, and the fun pleats on the side seam. It's got a boat neckline, grown on sleeves, a slit on the side and pleats on the other.

Modern and cool!

This pattern was really lovely to sew... it's simple, but has some slick finishes and details, including French seams and neat mitered corners on the split hem.

For fabric, I used a lovely handwoven cotton ikat I bought from Manik Bali in Ubud years and years ago when I lived in Indonesia.

I love the rich main color and the beautiful sheen from the multicolored threads woven in.

I thought it would have just the right amount of body to keep the Pleat Top's pleats from collapsing too much.

I cut a UK size 22, designed for a 47.5 inch bust. Worked out great!

The pattern goes up to a 59.5 inch bust and 63 inch hip. The size ranges are split, which is not my favorite. My version is from the larger size range.

I'm so pleased with how my Pleat Top turned out! Comfy, chic and cool.

I've already cut another one out from a crisp Thai silk from my stash. Coming soon...
