Jaunty Shawl Two Ways

 Jaunty shawl, two ways!

I've been taking the bus to the office since March (which you would know if you've seen me in real life in recent months, because I'm insufferable about it), and it's a decently long commute, so I've been getting lots of knitting time in.

I needed some smaller, portable projects to work on, and the Drea Renee Knits Jaunty shawl fit the bill!

I liked that this shawl pattern, a shallow triangle, knit sideways using Half-Fishermen’s Rib, is designed to use a variety of different yarn weights.

Once you figure out the stitch pattern, it's delightfully mindless to knit, perfect for listening to podcasts or audiobooks while on the bus.

I've got two versions of this Andrea Mowry pattern to share today, both made with fingering weight yarn.

The first, smaller one, is one skein of fingering weight yarn from my sister in law, who donated a bunch of sock-weight yarn to my stash.

The yarn is Skinny Bugga!  from The Sanguine Gryphon, and the colorway is Sea Star, a pretty coral-y red.

I love how it turned out! A solid color, but with a hint of variation for some beautiful texture.

The second, bigger shawl is made from two skeins of Malabrigo Sock yarn that I bought at Brooklyn Craft Company when I was in the city last year.

The colorway is Disfraz, a beautiful multi-colored speckle on a cream colored base.

I love how the color concentrated and faded in interesting ways across the shawl as I knit!

Here's the size comparison between the one-skein and two-skeins versions:

I'm so happy with them! They both have beautiful drape and are very soft and lovely to wear! Perfect bus knitting, too.
