Is this both the ugliest and the best thing I have ever made?
Quite possibly.
When Fluid + Drape released their collection of butter-printed fabrics, I couldn't resist.
While I'm not that into the trendy butter-yellow color for me, I am into literal butter. This fabric collection is screen printed with sticks of butter on it and I love it so!
I got a length of the butter print on a rust and lilac striped background, on the lightweight cotton/linen blend substrate (you can also get it on an organic cotton background or with a gold and light lilac striped background).

I chose a tried and true pattern for my buttery fabric: the Helen's Closet Gilbert Top. This pattern is a summer favorite of mine.
I used some fun butter yellow novelty buttons from my stash, originally purchased, I believe, at Chatuchak Market in Bangkok. There was a fabulous button and bead stall there where I purchased many fun buttons for next to nothing.
I sewed the buttons right through the plackets because I am lazy, I don't have a machine that does reliable buttonholes, and I don't need to unbutton this shirt.
