This sweater has been a long time coming... yarn purchased in 2011, sweater started in 2021, sweater finished in 2025!
The pattern is the Super Simple Summer Sweater by Joji Locatelli. It's a very basic sweater, with a deep circular yoke, a boxy fit and wide stripes. Worked in worsted weight yarn, seamlessly from the top-down.
I knit a size XL, which has a 52½ finished bust. I'm happy with the fit, and I like the round yoke.
However, the reason it took so long to finish is because I wasn't happy with the original length and the split hem.
The proportions weren't quite right for me; it felt too long and I was getting laddering at the splits.
After a 4-year hiatus, I put in an afterthought lifeline, frogged back, and ended up with one less stripe and hem ribbing that went all the way around; no splits.
Worked great! Why did I wait so long?!
I'm pretty happy with it! I think the underarm could be neater; it's a little strained there since only 2 stitches are cast on for the underarm. I picked up a few extra stitches at the underarm to help with any holes.
The yarn is Classic Elite Yarns Summer Set, a cotton, alpaca, polyester, tencel blend. It's a discontinued yarn, but quite nice to work with and super soft!
I definitely got the yarn on clearance when I bought it, early in my knitting and crocheting journey. $2 a ball but not enough of either color for a whole sweater, so this wide striped pattern seemed like a good bet!
